Description:

The Cabinet Maker/Carpenter is responsible for using shop standards to build, modify, and complete required job requests under the direction of the Shop Foreman. This includes material tracking, work order processes, utilizing proper equipment techniques, and identifying any discrepancies with shop drawings. Candidate will also be responsible for meeting quality standards, and completing tasks in a timely manner. This position requires strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a neat, clean, and safe manner to meet scheduled delivery times.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Builds exhibit properties and other custom build projects
  • Construct and finish cabinetwork and furniture from rough schematic and blueprints
  • Install hardware, such as hinges, handles, catches and/or drawer pulls
  • Verify dimensions or check the quality or fit of pieces to ensure adherence to specifications
  • Build cabinetry from detailed shop drawings
  • Assemble wooden furniture and fixture parts to form subassemblies and complete articles
  • Prepare and apply inlays, veneers, and laminated plastics
  • Communicates with other team members in the shop and warehouse effectively
  • Maintains appropriate minimum levels of raw materials inventory
  • Repairs and maintains custom rental stock and stored client owned custom exhibit properties
  • Submits bill materials at the conclusion of each project or when requested
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of shop power tools, operation, safety and uses
  • Working knowledge of laminating methods and exhibit construction
  • General woodworking experience
  • Minimum four years exhibit carpentry experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Well organized
  • Cost and quality conscious
  • Can read blueprints and CAD Drawings
  • Hand sketch shop drawings to direct other team members
  • Knowledge of welding and metal fabrication, and knowledge of the use of forklifts would be an asset
